5 Powerful ‘Must Do’ Social Media Tips

Let’s get started with the basics that apply to any social media network that you may be using. Sometimes even the seasoned social media user forgets these from time to time!

Make sure your social profiles are complete and up to date.

You want to make sure your social profiles are complete and current! Go to Google and do a search for your biz name and your name. What social profiles come up on the first two pages? Visit each one and make sure all your info is up to date. Social profiles are a huge SEO bonus for every business owner.

Cross Promoting Your Social Profiles

Make sure that you are looking for opportunities to add links to other social media profiles. For example, on Facebook use your Twitter link in your about section. Google+ and Pinterest allow you to link to other social media profiles. Don’t forget to add your social media profiles to your signature block. Wisestamp or simple text links work beautifully!

Check Your Email Contacts Frequently To Connect With Them On Your Social Media Networks

If it’s been a while since you have done this, now is a great time to go back through your profiles and add new connections. Here are the links to revisit these social media networks and connect with people in your email contact list; Twitter, FacebookLinkedIn, and Pinterest.

Do NOT Buy Followers or Fans

I see a lot of people fall into this trap because they think the numbers will give them instant credibility. The bad part is that these bought fans or followers are almost always bogus accounts and not real people. Many social media networks are very aggressively working to remove fake likes and there are many tools for Twitter that is exposing accounts that have bought followers. It’s just not worth it and most importantly; it does nothing to help you building community and engagement around your brand.

Use Google Analytics To Measure Your Social Media Marketing Plan

Set up some goals in Google Analytics and then monitor your results to make sure that you are getting results from your efforts. Some benefits of social media are tough to measure but this is a great way to give an overview of whether you are generating traffic from social media to your website.

Buying followers or fans is the ultimate waste of money. Online marketing is all about developing relationships, not trying to impress people with false figures related to fans and page likes. Thanks for sharing Kim.
