Does Your Child Dream of Being An Entrepreneur?

This guest post was written by Linette Daniels  aka, The Youth Success Doctor

Every nine seconds in America a student drops out of school!

An estimated 3.8 million youth ages 18-24 are neither employed nor in school!

7 out of 10 teens say they want to be entrepreneurs yet 50% say they don’t know how to get started!

How are you supporting your child’s dream?

How are you helping him or her get from where they are to where they want to be?

As your child grows, he or she will show unique abilities in certain areas. Look for their talents and provide opportunities for your child to strengthen those skills. Your child who loves to cook could cater children’s home birthday parties. The teen that’s really good at math can start a tutoring business to help kids improve their grades in school.

It is important to let your child choose the business and be understanding of the fact that they have their own ideas and most likely will not be interested in what you want them to do. Trying to control their dreams or ignore your child’s ideas will undermine their chances of achieving success.

Instead of pushing, cheer them on. Expose them to a variety of opportunities. Create an atmosphere of support. Empower an attitude for success. Make room for your child to choose their own path in life. Encourage them and provide the needed resources. Believe in your child and they will believe in themselves. Nurture your child’s dreams and they will reach for the stars.

You are the key to your child’s victory. You are their inspiration, motivation and direction. There are already enough adults stuck in a 9 to 5 job, following orders they may not agree with, working with people they pretend to like, and bringing home a paycheck that does not meet the end of their month. Help your child create the life they want to live!
