So often I hear from folks," If only _________ "{you can fill in the blank}
When will you just do it? Is fear holding you back?
Several years ago I put my profession on hold to care for my children and home school them. Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine that first off I would have 5 children, much less home school them, but most importantly put my long dream of becoming a doctor on hold.
Well, I did and am so glad that I did! Many times, I found myself saying, 'If only I had more time, I could…..'
That time has come, and not because I've magically found 27 hour days. It has come because I have determined that I can make a difference. I can help more people today with my experiences than I ever thought possible. I love what I do and more importantly my family time doesn't suffer. But the most important part of this entire equation is that I am helping others in ways that I didn't want to, but were the ways that they needed the help the most. What a revelation!
It's your turn.
Determine what it is that you want to do. Better yet, determine what you don't want to do and do it! Are you confused? Let me clear it up for you. Just yesterday I was speaking to my hair stylist who by the way runs the entire shop with several employees and a spa as well. She was a bit stressed with the fact that some folks didn't take her seriously. After a chat, she felt better and was determined to put her professional hat on and separate personal feelings from her business. I then asked her, is this what you always dreamed of? And she said no, I simply just wanted to cut hair. But she then said that she is now helping more people then she ever dreamed of and that was her entire goal all along.
So, now it's your turn. Are you doing what you've always wanted to do? If not, how has it changed your life? My life has changed dramatically and for the better. I'm sure yours has too, you just need to look at it from a different perspective.
Share your thoughts. Are you doing what you always dreamed of doing or the complete opposite? How has your life changed?

I am reading Beth Moore’s latest book So Long Insecurity and found that I use those “if only” statements to procrastinate in following God’s will for my life. Thanks for confirming this again with your post =)

Thank Melissa for sharing your comment. It’s amazing how often we will use the words..’If only’ and more often than not, they are simply an excuse. We need to listen to that inner voice, which is God of course and follow His lead, He knows best:)
I love this! Recently I started on the “If only…” sentence and Mr. Parris wrapped his arms around me and said, “Honey, look – we have everything we always wanted!”
Today is our 20th wedding anniversary and I am taking the moment to celebrate. Somehow, growing up I always thought I would be a preacher’s wife or teaching in a Bible College in some other country, but I LOVE being who I am in this home and in the marketplace.
If only…I could revel in being the mom to the Fab Four, Wife of the Sailor, and coach to the most incredible people in the world. Really – what else is there?

Happy Anniversary Ms. Gina! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. If only…that is just a state of mind and we must shrug it off..when we look around we truly have all we really need
